Faith of a Child

Children are inspiring in their simplistic beliefs. They do not require complicated explanations, unless of course they are doing something you don’t want them to do. When they hear that God made the world, they don’t question, they just believe. I did not grow up raised in church, so watching my children grow in the word of God is an amazing experience. Their pure little hearts don’t question God’s love; they just accept His love and bask in its warmth.
I want so badly to have this type of faith. In Matthew 18:3 Jesus tells the disciples, “unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven”. God is telling us to just enjoy his love and not over analyze His goodness. We as adults can sometimes get bogged down by the stresses of this world and fail to see the blessings from God in the most simplistic of things.
This hit me the other night when my children were came flying in the house from the backyard and bolted out the front door yelling, “it is beautiful, Mom. Come see what Jesus made!” I went out after them, not to look for the beauty in God’s creations, but to stop them from going near the road when my son grabbed me and pointed to the sky. “Look Mom, right there. See that cloud? It is beautiful!” Then my daughter squealed with delight, “God made that for us Mom. Isn’t it great?”
I decided to humor them even though I had dishes to do and laundry to get done. I looked up and guess what? It was beautiful! I stood there with my kids quietly thanking God for the splendor he creates all around us. The dishes can wait.

God is Good Even When the World is Not

My family and I recently underwent some very trying times. My husband switched jobs (his old employer had to lay off most of the staff) and we were uninsured since we could not afford COBRA insurance with no paycheck. Long story short, my husband was hired within one week at a new company, praise God. The catch was he did not have insurance for 90 days. I did not let this bother me since I decided we were going to walk in faith that God would not let harm come to us. Needless to say, my husband was hospitalized for a minor issue. The bills kept coming in from various sources. The lab, hospital and doctors were sending us bill after bill. We of course could not afford these bills! Still, we kept our faith that God is good. That does not mean that we were not stressed. We were crazy with stress! But the Lord delivered us from the situation in a way that we could never have imagined. The medical bills were written off 100%! We did not have to pay a dime. God did not need any help in taking care of this situation. He did not just lower the payments, but He had thousands of dollars written off for us. I learned that I can stress and worry all I want, but God can handle what is a unsurmountable problem for me effortlessly. Poof! The bills were gone.

On the Wings of Eagles

Isaiah 40:31 - but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their stregth; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.  This is one of my favorite verses in the entire Bible.  It is such a testament to the power and patience of the Lord.  I am enthralled with the choice of verbage.  Even the young men shall fall exhausted, but those that wait upon the Lord will soar!  The imagery brings tears to my eyes knowing that we shall not only triumph, but actually be majestic and poweful like the eagle.  We shall soar high above able to swoop down on evil from our bird's eye view. Strength and might make no difference to God.  He will use the meek, the disabled, the feable and the weak in body as long as they are strong in spirit.  I pray for the day to come when we, God's people are mounted up on eagle's wings.  When evil grows weary and faints, the rightous will rise above the ways of evil and overcome.  The main part of this scripture that is the hardest to remember, is "but they who wait for the Lord".  It is so easy to want to accomplish what weview as God's will on our own, but God wants us to trust in Him.  God has a plan and His timing is perfect; even when His plan does not reveal itself to our eyes.  It is so tempting to want to help God bring about His will, but true strength lies in the ability to patiently await God.  Standing strong in the faith that God is in control of everything and that His plan will be perfect.
